About me
My name is Danny Poyner (as you might have guessed) and I am glad to be here writing. I am a Christian, husband, father, worship leader, musician, tech geek, weight lifter and nutrition freak.
I work at First Baptist Church, Cary, NC as the Assistant Minister of Music, Students and Multimedia (I had to have a separate business card just to hold my title). All this means is that I get to do a little bit of everything each week. I really do love my job (I’ve been there 12 years) and am grateful for the opportunity to serve God and the people of this church and city.
I am also a student. I will graduate from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in December with a Masters of Divinity in Worship Leadership. It has been a long—but very rewarding—time learning and working toward this degree. Will there be more school in my future? I’m not sure. I’d love to get a Ph.D. in order to teach one day, but time and money are the two things we simply don’t have much of right now. I would recommend SEBTS to anyone looking for a great biblically based education. Contact me (also @dwpoyner) if you need more information on SEBTS or have questions that I may be able to answer.
About this site
I began this blog with no real expectations in mind. I knew I wanted an avenue to write about things that are of interest to me and that may be beneficial to others. I have three main topics in mind: Theology and the Church, technology, and health and nutrition. It is my goal to share with my readers in a way that helps them through any struggles they are experiencing, whether spiritual, BSODs or diet tips. Of course, like everyone else, I’ll run a weird tangent from time to time. I trust you’ll forgive me for those and read the stuff that is worth reading. I’ll try to keep these to a minimum.
I also reserve the right to moderate/delete comments as I feel necessary. I want to encourage participation, but anything that I believe is inflammatory or derogatory will be deleted. Comments should be gracious and kind to this participating in the discussion.
Guest posts
I will use guest posts from time to time. If there is something you would like to write that pertains to the general themes of this blog, them please contact me. I will read through it and if it fits, I’ll post it. I want to be of benefit to anyone that may read this blog.
Affiliate links
Yes, I use them. It takes my money to keep this site running, and I would appreciate any clicks you can send my way. I’m not a huge fan of referrals, but I’m grateful for anything that helps offset the cost at least a little bit. Thank you for your understanding and for any purchases you make using my links. I am not ruling out the possibility of some basic text ads at the bottom of a post or something, but for right now, my plan is to stay ad free.
Disclaimer
As always, anything I say is not necessarily representative of the views of First Baptist Church, my wife, children or other bald men. I take responsibility for the words that are written here and will not pass them off on anyone else. I strive to provide quality content that is written with the utmost respect for my readers and that honors God most of all. He is the reason that I am here and he is the reason that I write. If you do not have a relationship with God through Christ, please—I beg you—contact me and let’s talk. This decision is the greatest decision you’ll ever make and it is of the utmost importance.
